The north Cotswolds run on hospitality, tourism, property and land, alongside a growing number of small professional and creative businesses. Seasonal income and mixed business and personal tax are the norm here.
The towns and villages of the north Cotswolds, from Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold to Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Campden, have a business base built around visitors and land. Hotels, pubs, restaurants and holiday lets sit alongside farms, estates, equestrian businesses and the trades that serve them.
Two things come up again and again. The first is seasonality: a business that earns most of its money between Easter and October needs a cash flow forecast that reflects it, and a VAT position planned around it. The second is that business and personal tax are rarely separate. A trading company, a let property and land are usually one set of decisions, and inheritance tax and capital gains planning come into it earlier than most people expect.
Holiday lets deserve a mention of their own. The furnished holiday lettings regime ended in April 2025, which changed how a great many Cotswold properties are taxed. If your position has not been reviewed since, it is worth a conversation.
Holiday let income now counts as ordinary property income for Making Tax Digital. Owners with gross rents and trading income over £50,000 are already in, and those over £30,000 join in April 2027. Your 2025/26 self assessment return is due by 31 January 2027.

Yes. We work with businesses across the north Cotswolds from our Cheltenham office, around half an hour away. Most of the work is done in Xero and on calls, and we meet in person when it helps.
Our fees are fixed and monthly, agreed before we start. Business packages start from £100 a month plus VAT, and the price depends on turnover, transaction volume, payroll, VAT and how much reporting you want. The full breakdown is on our pricing page.
Yes. An owner with a trading business, property and land is usually making one set of decisions, so we look at the business, the property and the personal tax position together rather than in isolation.
A first conversation costs nothing and usually takes half an hour. We will tell you what we would do and what it would cost, and you can decide from there.
