The calculators

Questions worth answering early

Each one sits on the page that explains the subject properly, so you can check the number and then read why it lands where it does.

01
Key dates: every deadline for the next year
Enter your year end and what applies to you. Returns accounts filing, corporation tax, the CT600, VAT quarters, payroll dates and self assessment as one ordered list, with a calendar file you can import straight into Outlook.
01
Making Tax Digital: which April catches you?
Enter your self-employment turnover and gross rental income. Tells you whether you are already inside the regime, or whether April 2027 or April 2028 is your date. Qualifying income is gross, before expenses, which is where most people get it wrong.
02
Corporation tax and marginal relief
Profit and associated companies in, tax and effective rate out. Also shows the rate on your next £1,000 — which inside the marginal band is 26.5%, higher than the main rate itself, and the figure that should drive year-end decisions.
03
Salary versus dividend: what reaches you
Runs company profit through employer NI, corporation tax, income tax, employee NI and dividend tax to the figure in your hand. Dividend rates rose two points in April 2026, so last year's answer is no longer this year's answer.
05
In-house finance team vs Finance Partner
Set what you would pay a bookkeeper, payroller, management accountant and part-time FD. Adds employer National Insurance and pension on top, deducts the Employment Allowance, and compares the real annual cost against a monthly fee.
07
Year-end planning checklist
Enter your year end and expected profit. Returns a prioritised list of what is still worth doing before the year closes, with your marginal rate applied so you can see what a deduction is actually worth.

What these can and cannot tell you

Important
These calculators are provided for general information only and are based on rates and thresholds for the 2026/27 tax year in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scottish income tax bands differ. Each one makes simplifying assumptions, which are stated alongside it, and none of them can take account of your full circumstances — other income, reliefs, pension contributions, a spouse's allowances, associated companies or anything else specific to you.

They do not constitute professional advice and should not be relied on when making a decision. Tax rules change, and a figure that was right in one year may not be right in the next. BPC Partners Ltd accepts no liability for any action taken, or not taken, on the basis of these figures. Please speak to us before acting.

The number is the start of the conversation

A calculator can tell you what you owe. It cannot tell you what to do about it, and that part is usually where the money is. A first conversation costs nothing.
